The Martyr Herekol Book Fair will be held for the 5th time this year in Qamishlo. This year’s slogan is ‘Books are the source of life’. The fair will start tomorrow, Thursday, at Mihemed Şêxo Culture and Art Center. Publishing houses from Egypt, Iraq, Tunisia, Lebanon, South Kurdistan, North Kurdistan and Rojhilat Kurdistan will be present with their stands and books.

The fair will present books written in Kurdish, Turkish, Arabic, Persian and English and will be open between 8 am and 10 pm and will last 8 days.

As in previous years, each publishing house will be able to exhibit their books in special stands.

Panels on social, history, culture and jineoloji will be held at the fair and will be given in Kurdish and Arabic.

A total of 44 publishing houses from different countries and from the different parts of Kurdistan will attend the event.

Martyr Herekol Book Fair Organizing Committee member Ebdulmecid Xelef told ANHA: “Last year, some readers criticized the expensive prices of books. We talked to publishers this year and we demanded that the prices be reasonable.”

Last year, 39 publishing houses joined the fair with 120,000 books. Panels were also held on many subjects.
