Preparations are underway for a major solidarity concert in Paris in support of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and all Kurdish political prisoners in Turkey.

The event, that will take place on 19 October, will be a key moment of mobilization for freedom and human rights, organized by the Kurdish Democratic Council in France (CDK-F) in collaboration with the Kurdish Women’s Movement in France, the Kurdistan Cultural Association, France-Kurdistan, Solidaires, the Danielle Mitterrand Foundation, the MRAP, the Peace Movement, SOS Racisme, and the Maison du Tamil Elam.

Presenting the event, the CDK-F said that "this concert is not limited to music: it will also be an opportunity to meet associations committed to the Kurdish cause and social justice. Stands will be present to inform, raise awareness and mobilize around the struggles for freedom and human rights. People will also be able to enjoy food on site, in a friendly and supportive atmosphere."

The organizers said that "speeches will also mark the event, allowing committed personalities to talk about current issues and the need to support Kurdish political prisoners. It will be a moment of collective reflection, sharing of ideas and strengthening of links between the different struggles."

The organizers said that the list of artists joining the concert will be communicated soon.
