Kurds attend the National Minorities Festival in Yerevan

Kurds took part in the National Minorities Festival in Yerevan. Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's book translated into Armenian attracted great interest.

The National Minorities Festival was celebrated in Angliale Park in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Everyone participated in the festival with their own colours and exhibited their cultures and dances.

On behalf of the Kurds, the Bihar Children's Govend Group and the artist Zagros Rojhilat performed at the event, where Kurdish clothes and traditional Kurdish materials were exhibited.

Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's book translated into Armenian attracted great interest from the participants and the book was signed by the Kurdistan Committee.

Silo Dirboyan, Co-Chair of the Kurdistan Committee, said: “Participation in the festival is important as it is the basis of the brotherhood of peoples. Everyone shows their own culture to one another and merges. As Kurds, we always participate in such festivals; we show our culture, our govend (dance), our songs. We want our very rich culture to be recognised by all peoples, just as we need to recognise the culture of other peoples.”

Kejê Reşoyan, the teacher of the Govend group, said, “We participate in the festival every year so that our culture is not lost. This year we participated in three festivals and all three were successful. We are participating in this festival which hosts the cultures of 11 different peoples.”

Kurds also participated in the costume festival held in the Armenian city of Dilîcan with their costumes and local dishes.

Photographs of Abdullah Öcalan were also displayed at the festival area. Abdullah Öcalan's book published in Armenian was also distributed to the participants.
