The Mezopotmaya Cultural Center (MKM) made a statement on its social media account regarding the detention of Kurdish musician Emel Çiftçi. The artist was taken into custody after going to the hospital for treatment in Amed and subsequently sent to prison.

The MKM statement called for "artist Emel Çiftçi, who represents the free Kurdish woman identity in art and who has made great efforts especially for the development of Kurdish art, to be released immediately."
