Network Women Weawing Future will host a webseminar conference by Nazan Üstündağ on The Sociology of Freedom, by Abdullah Öcalan. The conference will be held at 7 pm (UK time) and will address Öcalan's perspectives on power and freedom. It will address how Öcalan conceptualizes powere and hierarchy and how he proposes a sociology of freedom to rething these concepts. As Üstündağ herself explains, "the conference will also foreground how freedom is defined and lived in the Kurdish Freedom Movement both as utopia and as a way of being and becoming here and now."
Nazan Üstündağ received her PhD in 2005 from the sociology department at Indiana University Bloomington. She is a member of Women for Peace and Academics for Peace.
