Photos of YPG/YPJ fighters exhibited at the Book Fair in Qamishlo
28 photographs of YPG/YPJ members, taken by YPG Press Office member Reşo Kesan during the resistance in Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, Manbij and Afrin, are exhibited at the ongoing Book Fair in Qamishlo.
The Martyr Hisên Şawîş (Herekol) Book Fair launched by Cizire Canton Culture and Art Council in Qamishlo yesterday, continues on its second day. The fair is also hosting several seminars and exhibitions.
28 photographs of YPG/YPJ members, taken by YPG Press Office member Reşo Kesan during the liberation campaigns in Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, Manbij and the resistance in Afrin, are exhibited at the book fair. Reşo Kesan who took part in the Rojava Revolution with his camera, followed up many liberation campaigns in Northern Syria, and the Resistance of the Age in Afrin.
Remarking that every photo taken during resistance has taken its place in Kurdish history, Reşo Kesan says; “We are trying to make the truths heard through our camera. Press works gain more importance during revolution. The resistance in Afrin has not been mounted anywhere else in the world. We took part in this resistance with our camera, through which we wanted to convey the realities of the enemy and popular resistance.”
Reşo tells that he took the most striking photograph during the Resistance of the Age where the high morale of the YPG/YPJ fighters was also reflected on images. He says; “We wanted this morale of the fighters to be seen in this exhibition. The Resistance of the Age mounted in Afrin under most challenging circumstances, will not be forgotten.”
The “most striking photograph” Reşo talks about is of two YPJ fighters returning from an action. “They were very tired but they soon prepared for another action without having a rest. They fell as martyrs in that action.”
