A book by imprisoned Kurdish poet İlhan Sami Çomak will be launched tomorrow, Saturday, at 6.30 pm at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London (10 Thornhaugh Street London WC1H 0XG).
This is the first selected work in English by the Kurdish poet and is called 'Separated from the Sun'.
The poems in English will be read by Ruth Padel, George Szirtzes, Caroline Stockford, Iulia David and Aydın Mehmet Ali.
PEN International President Burhan Sönmez will introduce İlhan's work and editor and translator Caroline Stockford of PEN Norway will say a few words about PEN's work for İlhan and his forthcoming anthology of poetry in dialogue with 80 world poets.
Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the victims of the earthquake and can be purchased here
