In the second part of the interview by ANF, KCK Executive Council co-chair Besê Hozat insists on the importance of the HDP as the only hope for the establishment of democracy in Turkey. 

Here are Besê Hozat's remarks:

"The AKP-MHP fascist government has seized the HDP-run municipalities, arrested or dismissed their elected mayors. The genocidal fascist government implements a colonial law in Kurdistan.

The seizure of the municipalities is the result of the genocidal attacks of this fascist force which does not recognize the will of the Kurds and tries to change it using violence.

Today, there are thousands of political prisoners in Turkish jails; there are tens of thousands of people who protest and object to the policies of an unelected fascist force. Not only politicians, but also journalists, intellectuals, academics, artists, lawyers, activists are put behind bars. Their voice is put behind bars. Turkey has turned into a prison country. Undoubtedly all these fascist attacks stem from the non-solution of the Kurdish problem. A government that perpetrates a genocide against Kurds cannot grant freedom and democracy to other segments of society. A government which is implementing isolation for 21 years on a person, cannot clearly implement law and justice in the country.

The HDP is the true democratic force in Turkey

The HDP is the true democratic force in Turkey, a guarantee of democracy, the people are the main actors of democratic political unity. The HDP represents the democratic will of the peoples and the organized struggle against fascism. It is a political party in which the oppressed, the workers, women, young people, people of all faiths, ethnic and cultural social, identity, background can find their space. It is a party and at the same time a project for a new social life.

On the other hand, it is a party which defends the freedom and democratic life of the Kurdish people and the Alevi community that the Turkish state has long tried to destroy with assimilation, oppression and persecution for a century.

This is one of the main reasons why the AKP-MHP fascist government attacks the HDP and has declared it an enemy. The HDP plays an enormous transformation role in politics and society. The woman democratizes and transforms politics and society with her free understanding of democratic politics. Therefore, it narrows the space of male-dominated politics, AKP-MHP fascism, and pushes the state to be sensitive to democracy.

The HDP grew quickly thanks to the support of the people

The HDP grew in a short time with the support of the people and got stronger and stronger, becoming a great hope for the people of Turkey. Although the HDP has been subjected to massive attacks since its establishment and especially in recent years, it has managed to survive thanks to the support of peoples, women and workers. Kurdish people and the peoples of Turkey understood very well that the HDP is meaningful when it came to work for democracy in Turkey. Indeed, the HDP is the only true source of hope for democracy in Turkey.

Weakening or eliminating the HDP also means eliminating all democratic opposition in Turkey, it means the institutionalization of fascist dictatorship. The main reason why the AKP-MHP fascist government attacks the HDP so much is that so far it has managed to prevent the fascist dictatorship from becoming institutionalized. If the AKP-MHP fascist dictatorship has entered into a great jam and stalemate today and has not yet institutionalized itself, is thanks to the struggle of the Kurds and the HDP. A struggle carried out despite all its shortcomings."
