KNK co-chair Zeynep Murad: We must stand firm against Turkish attacks

Zeyneb Murad, co-chair of the Kurdistan National Congress, said: "It is clear that our enemies are determined to attack us. The Kurdish people must oppose these attacks."

After the DEM party's election victory in North Kurdistan, the AKP-MHP regime continues to increase its attacks on Kurds.

The guerrillas are effectively defending South Kurdistan, inflicting heavy losses on the Turkish army. The regime in Ankara has begun a new offensive. At diplomatic level, a major invasion of South Kurdistan is being prepared, while the repression against the DEM party continues to increase, as well as the repression against the free media, which has even reached Europe again.

KNK (Kurdistan National Congress) co-chair Zeynep Murad told ANF: “The current phase is a fateful time for our people. We must clearly state that we will not accept the occupation of Kurdish land and the murder of our children.”

The enemy sees chaos in the Middle East as an opportunity

Noting that the attacks affect all four parts of Kurdistan, Murad said: "Kurdistan is still being attacked with great military force on its territory. At our 22nd general meeting we pointed out the existing dangers. Our enemy sees the chaos in the Middle East and the world as an opportunity to destroy all the achievements of the Kurdish people. First and foremost, the political parties, then our people and all the institutions with which we live have the task and responsibility to oppose this."

The Turkish state's planned new massacres will never be accepted, Zeyneb Murad said, adding: "It is clear that our enemies are determined to do this and we, the Kurdish people, must stand firmly against these attacks. We call on political parties never to participate in these plans and plots against our people."

South Kurdistan and Rojava are in danger

Referring to the political and social crisis in South Kurdistan, Murad said: "Instead of healing the wounds of our people, we see that the situation is becoming even more difficult and the status of South Kurdistan and Rojava is threatened. The occupying states, be it Turkey, Iran, Syria or even Iraq, cannot accept the fact that the Kurdish people have reached this level, that they are successful and have a status. Although there are political, religious and other conflicts between them, Iran and Syria can come to an agreement with the Turkish state when it comes to the Kurdish people. These states have joined forces to destroy the Kurdish people. Therefore, this phase is a fateful phase for our people. We call on political parties, civil society organizations and our people to take a stand and take this reality into account. We must say firmly that we do not accept the occupation of Kurdistan and the murder of our children."

We have the opportunity to succeed

Murad said that "the Turkish state claimed that the attacks are directed against the Kurdistan freedom movement," but, she added, "they are actually directed against the entire Kurdish people and Kurdistan. We have many enemies, but they are at their weakest point at the moment. We saw how the AKP-MHP alliance failed in the local elections and how our people won. This means that we have the opportunity to defeat the enemy, even if it is difficult. This can only be achieved through the unity of the people, political parties and society. We must say together that we will not remain silent in the face of the occupation of Kurdistan and the destruction of the achievements of the Kurdish people."
