Speaking in a special program broadcast on Sterk TV, Sabri Ok, a member of the KCK Executive Council, pointed out that there was no news from Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and that he had no communication with the outside. He said: “But we know that anonymous letters were given to Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] by the occupying Turkish state and the Imralı administration. Those letters said to Rêber Apo that he will be given such a poison that it would kill him. The letters said that he would die day by day, without realizing it."
Ok said that those letters “play with Öcalan’s psychology, his mental health, his physical health.”
On the occasion of the anniversary of the 14 July Death Fast, Ok also commemorated all the revolution and prison martyrs in the person of the PKK's leading cadres, Kemal Pir, Mehmet Hayri Durmuş, Akif Yılmaz and Ali Çiçek, and noted that the PKK has shown a strong resistance along the line of 14 July for the past 50 years. Emphasizing that the 14 July resistance has a historical meaning, Ok said that “this resistance still continues in the person of Rêber Apo.”
Ok said that a women-led revolution was carried out in Rojava on 19 July 2012, despite all the oppression and tyranny and added that the Turkish state has constantly attacked the Rojava Revolution since then. Ok said that there is harassment, rape, plunder and massacres every day, especially in Turkey-occupied Afrin.
Ok said: "First of all, I respectfully salute Rêber Apo. I commemorate all our comrades who fell as martyrs in Kurdistan and in the prisons, and bow respectfully before their memories. Undoubtedly, we need to interpret Rêber Apo's situation well. The Turkish state's approach to Rêber Apo is an approach towards the entire Kurdish people. The isolation and oppression against Rêber Apo means that there is isolation and oppression in Kurdistan, against the Kurdish people and against the peoples of Turkey."
Ok added: "The policies applied to Rêber Apo are the continuation of the Turkish genocide policy. We should not take isolation lightly. They want to prevent Rêber Apo's voice from reaching the Kurdish people and Turkish society, and they play with the psychology of Rêber Apo, as well as the psychology of the Kurdish people."
Hundreds of our people have set fire to their bodies to protest the conspiracy against Rêber Apo and have fallen martyrs. Rêber Apo has such a relationship with society."
Ok continued: "Journalist Merdan Yanardag said something a few days ago. To say these things, it is necessary neither to be a revolutionary nor to love Rêber Apo. Just stating the truth is enough. "There is isolation in Imrali," he said. This is something real. Merdan Yanardag said this and he was put in prison. So they want no one to talk about Rêber Apo and Imralı. In fact, [MHP president] Bahçeli said, ‘Whoever says there is isolation in Imrali is committing a crime.’ We are faced with such a mentality. We must fight against this mentality at the highest level. Every Kurd should express that there is isolation in the area they are in, raise their voices against it and show their reactions.
A 17-year-old teenager was murdered in Europe a few days ago. The people stood up and brought France to a standstill. There were protests not only in one city, but in the whole country, even in Belgium and other countries. Because people have fought for centuries for the democracy that is in Europe today, and European society has paid the price. When they see that democracy is in danger, they stand up and take to the streets. That's how it should be."
Everyone should participate in this process
Ok said: "A perfect organization is not necessary for certain things. For example, they are playing with our honor, someone is singing in Kurdish in Istanbul, the police are beating them and throwing them in prison. The Turkish state's tanks are coming, killing Kurdish children. They rape, they destroy the cemeteries of martyrs. We cannot remain silent against all this. They are discussing these events on TV. However, it is necessary to take a stance, not a discussion.
The Kurdish people should react in the same way as Europe does. The guerrillas are already resisting brutal attacks and will continue to resist. Our people should know that we are not in a normal process. No one should be comfortable. We are passing through a historical and important period. The PKK and the guerrillas are already fulfilling their role with a self-sacrificing spirit. But society should not accept injustice. Lawyers, intellectuals and society should also react when something untrue is said about our leader. When Bahçeli says such things, everyone, especially lawyers, should protest.
Everyone should be concerned about the situation of Rêber Apo. He cannot meet with his lawyers, see his family, and letters are not allowed. But we know that anonymous letters were given to Rêber Apo by the occupying Turkish state and the Imralı administration. Those letters said to Rêber Apo that he will be given such a poison that it would kill him. The letters said that he would die day by day, without realizing it."
