In the Narin Güran murder trial, three suspects, including the girl's mother, were sentenced to life imprisonment.

The girl's mother, Yüksel Güran, her brother, Enes Güran, and her uncle, Salim Güran, were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the intentional murder of Narin, while Nevzat Bahtiyar was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for falsifying evidence.

Despite the harsh sentences, human rights defenders criticize the court for not revealing the circumstances in which the girl died and how her body was hidden for 19 days in a small village where everyone knows each other.

The lifeless body of Narin Güran, an 8-year-old Kurdish girl, was found 19 days later in a bag in a stream bed 1.5 km from her village in Diyarbakir province.

Narin Güran, 8, disappeared on August 21 after leaving a Quran class in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of Bağlar district in Diyarbakır (Amed).
