TJA calls on all women to participate in events planned for 4 April, Öcalan’s birthday

The TJA has called on all women to participate in the events and demonstrations planned for 4 April, Abdullah Öcalan’s birthday.

The Free Women's Movement (TJA) issued a written statement about 4 April, the 76th birthday of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Titled "Marching to Freedom with a Democratic Society," the statement said: "We welcome 4 April, a day that has become a symbol of a people’s rebirth and dreams of freedom, with the resistance of 8 March (International Women’s Day) and the enthusiasm of Newroz."

The statement continued: "The birth of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan marks the beginning of our quest for freedom as women. Mr. Öcalan once said: ‘The issue of women's freedom remains of the utmost importance,’ placing women's issues at the core of all social problems. In response to this, we, as women, declare: ‘Our leader’s freedom is our freedom.’ We view the Call for Peace and a Democratic Society as our renaissance and take on the responsibility of socializing this call. Believing in a shared life, we embrace this call and invite all women to take to the streets on 4 April under the slogan 'Marching to Freedom with a Democratic Society.' We, as women, will be in the streets to crown the arrival of spring with freedom and to build an honorable peace."

The TJA announced a series of events to take place between 1 April and 4 April. Saplings of freedom will be planted in all cities. On 3 April, a women’s gathering will be held at the women’s tent in the festival area in Riha (Urfa). On 4 April, a march from Xelfetî to Amara will take place, led by women. On the same day, celebrations will be organized in all cities.
