The Free Journalists Initiative (ÖGİ) has announced its report for the month of February.

"We see that the government’s use of systematic pressures continues to increase. Every day journalists are being tried and many of them are sentenced."

Custody, detention, trials

The report issued by ÖGI listed the monthly repression on journalists as follows:

"163 journalists in prison

3 journalists taken into custody

1 journalist remanded in custody

Lawsuits against 2 journalists

46 journalists tried

1 journalist sentenced to 2 years in prison

8 journalists released

1 journalist acquitted from a case."
