In a statement regarding yesterday’s meeting with Öcalan, the İmralı Delegation said: “This process will help everyone, all of us, live together and freely. We look forward to the valuable contributions of all social segments.”

The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) MPs Pervin Buldan and Sırrı Süreyya Önder held a second meeting with Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı F Type High Security Closed Prison on Wednesday, January 22. The meeting lasted 4 hours. The first meeting had taken place on 28 December 2023, when Öcalan conveyed messages aimed at finding a solution.

The DEM Party İmralı Delegation made a statement about their second meeting with Öcalan, saying the following:

“As the DEM Party İmralı Delegation, we held a meeting with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan on İmralı Island on January 22, 2025.

During the meeting, Mr. Öcalan first expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic fire in Bolu and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

Our delegation provided him with the necessary information regarding the talks we have been having.

Mr. Öcalan's work on the process continues. Necessary explanations will be made to the public after his preparations on this subject are completed.

As a delegation, we will carry on our work and talks, and we will inform the public as developments take place.

This process will help everyone, all of us, live together and freely. We look forward to the valuable contributions of all social segments in the hope that this will be made possible.”
