Mezopotamya Agency (MA) journalist, Dindar Karataş, has been remanded in custody accused of “being a member of a terrorist organisation” for the meetings he covered and the news he wrote.
He was taken into custody in Van on 24 November.
Karataş sent a message from Erzurum H Type Closed Prison. The message reads: “The main reason for this repression against our agency is that we expose the violations and torture in the region. As the free press, we have been paying a high price for years. We show the way to the light at the end of the tunnel, against the laws wanting to push us down into darkness. We will continue to show this way to the people. The free press did not stop before, it won’t stop now."
Karataş reminded that imprisoned journalists are waiting for a letter of solidarity so that they are not forgotten.
