Two journalists taken into custody

Journalists Elif Bayburt and Nisa Sude Demirel were taken into custody in raids carried out in Ankara and Istanbul. Seven journalists detained in the past days were released.

Numerous homes were raided in Istanbul and Ankara earlier on Friday morning. In raids carried out in Istanbul, Etkin News Agency (ETHA) reporter Elif Bayburt and Evrensel newspaper reporter Nisa Sude Demirel were taken into custody.

The journalists were taken to the Provincial Police Department.

It was reported that many homes were raided in Ankara and many people, including students, were detained.

In the meantime, journalists Yasin Akgül, Zeynep Kuray, Hayri Tunç, Gökhan Kam, Kurtuluş Arı, Ali Onur Tosun and Bülent Kılıç have been released.
