SİİRT
Prisoners in Siirt Type E Closed Prison sent a letter through their families, announcing that they went on indefinite-irreversible hunger strike as of April 10. The prisoners said that their hunger strike demands an end to the isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and rights violations and pressures in prisons, and will continue until their demands are met.
The letter by prisoners said: "The AKP government escalated the repression in prisons following the launch of political genocide operations in 2015, and aggravated the inhumane isolation in the person of Leader Apo who means existence or death for us political prisoners, and is our red line. The level reached by this isolation is beyond our tolerance. We cannot accept this.
On March 13, five prisoners started indefinite-alternate hunger strike. These prisoners were later exiled to Bandırma Type T Closed Prison. The hunger strike was therewith taken over by a second group of seven prisoners, and later by a third group of five. Our protests will continue unless the isolation on Leader Apo ends."
The letter stated that 5 prisoners -Şerif Güngen, Zekeriya Seven, Zeki Cengiz, Yavuz Ödümlü, Mustafa Gündüz- have gone on indefinite-irreversible hunger strike on April 10 as the massacre against the Kurdish people continues.
According to the letter, female prisoner Sevim Ekin is on indefinite-irreversible hunger strike since March 28 and two more female prisoners -Naime Kaplan and Kübra Çelik- will join it on April 12, today.
SİNCAN
In Sincan Prison in Turkish capital Ankara, 7 female prisoners started a hunger strike which was later joined by 9 others. A third group also launched hunger strike on April 10, rising the total number of hunger strikers in Sincan Prison to 25.
BOLU
The indefinite-irreversible hunger strike started by 10 prisoners in Bolu Type F Prison has been joined by 8 other prisoners on April 11. Names of these inmates are; Recep Belik, Ali Dalaban, Mahmut Yamalak, Savaş Barik, Süphan Delen, Murat Çetinkaya, Murat Satılmış, Özkan Kart.
TOKAT
5 prisoners in Tokat Type T Prison have also launched indefinite-irreversible hunger strike on April. Names of these prisoners are; Rojhat Aydın, Mehmet Yiğit, Murat Sönmez, Sinan Sayık, Mehmet Emin Oğur.
