Şenyaşar Family: If there is solidarity, there will be justice

The Şenyaşar family is continuing their resistance and said that justice can be achieved through solidarity.

The Justice Vigil in front of the courthouse in Urfa launched by Emine Şenyaşar whose husband and two sons were killed in an armed attack that involved AKP Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız's bodyguards and relatives, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who was injured in the same attack, marks its 120th day. The mother and her son came in front of the courthouse in the early hours of the morning and placed banners in front of the concrete blocks on the road, that read “Justice for All”, “A mother has been carrying out a justice vigil in front of the Şanlıurfa courthouse for 120 days. Her 2 sons and husband were killed in hospital and “No lawsuit has been filed for 3 years since there is a deputy involved in the massacre”.

'JUDICIARY INFLUENCED BY GOVERNMENT'

On the 120th day of the vigil, Merve Demirel who was dismissed with a governmental decree and joined the ‘We want our jobs back’ protests in Ankara's Yüksel Street and Samandağ in Hatay, and the daughter of Edibe Özçelik who died as a result of a heart attack during a house raid on January 21, 2020 paid a support visit to the family.

Speaking here, Merve Demirel said, “All resistances in this country stem from injustice. The AKP government is using the judiciary as a weapon against the people. The resistance of Şenyaşar family showed us that there is a culture of resistance all over Turkey.”

'TOGETHER WE CAN SECURE JUSTICE'

“There is no reason not to resist today. Today is their 120th day. Three years have passed since the massacre. Visits made here today can make Emine Şenyaşar smile. Support visits give her strength. We invite everyone to stand in front of the Urfa Courthouse. Come here, visit them and listen to their demands for justice. If we are united, we can secure justice,” Demirel said.

'SUPPORT THE SENYASAR FAMILY'

“We want justice for everyone. We will carry out our resistance for justice, not in the palaces of justice or in the courtrooms, but on the streets with our people. We have visited the Şenyaşar family whose resistance is very important. Three members of the family were killed, and another member remains in prison. I believe that all of our people will unite in resistance," Filiz Özçelik said.

'WE EXPECT EVERYONE TO COME HERE'

“We continue our struggle with my mother. There is a saying that solidarity keeps alive. We are here because of solidarity. We believe that if we increase support for our struggle for justice in front of the Urfa Courthouse, justice will be achieved. We expect everyone to come here for legal support and solidarity,” Ferit Şenyaşar said.
