BDP deputy Yýldýrým denied visit from family

Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) jailed deputy Gülser Yýldýrým in Mardin E Type prison was denied permission to meet her consultant on the grounds of the “disciplinary punishment” imposed on her.

Mardin MP Gülser Yýldýrým, who was arrested within the scope of so-called “KCK” operations on 15 February 2010, has been subject to disciplinary punishment for joining the hunger strike in prison. Yýldýrým was denied permission by the prosecutor to meet her consultant who on 18 May went to the prison for a visit to BDP deputy.

Yýldýrým hasn’t been allowed to meet her consultant since she was elected as a member of the parliament on 12 July 2011.

The disciplinary punishment imposed on Yýldýrým is attention grabbing in the midst of ongoing discussions on the law to be enacted for the release of all jailed deputies from three opposition parties BDP, CHP and MHP.

BDP deputy Yýldýrým was for the same reason denied permission to meet her husband and two children who wanted to pay a visit to her on Mother’s Day.
