DAANES calls for immediate international action to stop Turkish massacres in North-East Syria

DAANES calls on the UN Security Council and the international community to take action to prosecute the occupying Turkish state for its attacks and massacres in northern and eastern Syria.

As the Turkish state continues its genocidal campaign against North-East Syria, which has escalated since the fall of the Assad regime, targeted attacks against civilians have left dozens of people dead or wounded in the past three days alone.

On January 27, Turkish forces brutally shelled the populated village of al-Jamas in the eastern countryside of Ain Issa with heavy artillery, resulting in the death of three civilians, including two children.

On January 28, the Turkish state targeted the Umm Harmalah village in the Zarkan countryside with heavy artillery, resulting in the death of three civilians, including a child, and leaving nine others injured.

On the same day, a Turkish UCAV bombed the public market in Sirrin, leaving 12 civilians dead and 13 others wounded.

On January 29, a Turkish UCAV hit a house in Kobanê, killing two civilians and wounding one other.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) issued a written statement denouncing the ever-increasing attacks and massacre of civilians by the occupying Turkish state.

The Autonomous Administration emphasized that the Turkish state is pursuing a policy of enmity against the peoples of North-East Syria.

DAANES strongly condemned the massacre in the district of Sirrin near Kobanê on Tuesday, when 12 civilians were killed and 13 others wounded as a result of a targeted attack against the public market.

“The massacre of civilians in Sirrin is a war crime and a manifestation of the fact that the Turkish state is directly targeting civilians. The attack is a clear violation of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1674 and all rules of international law,” said the statement and called on the UNSC and the international community to take necessary measures against the invasion attacks.

Stressing that the Turkish state has crossed all red lines of the international community, the UN and the UNSC, DAANES said that documents regarding the attacks have been sent to the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria also called on the International Coalition to intervene immediately to prevent the attacks of the occupying state against the territories and people of North and East Syria.
