STOCKHOLM

Kurds staged a torch march in Swedish capital city Sweden Tuesday evening to demand an immediate end to the aggravated isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Demonstrators, made up of mainly young people, handed out leaflets informing about the isolation regime the Turkish state imposes on the Kurdish leader.

The march which started from the Bantorget Square was organized by Stockholm Democratic Kurdish Society Center, Sara Women’s Union and Ciwanên Azad. Activists held banners demanding freedom for Öcalan and his images.

The march continued until the Norrmalmstorg Square, with demonstrators chanting “Freedom for Öcalan, status for Kurdistan”, “Murderer, fascist Erdoğan”, “Öcalan is the people and the people is us”, “Biji Serok Apo” (Long Live Leader Öcalan) and “Be Serok jiyan nabe” (No Life Without the Leader).

The demonstration ended following a minute’s silence in memory of all martyrs of the Kurdish revolution.

BORLÄNGE

In the city of Borlänge, Kurdish youth movement Ciwanên Azad members handed out leaflets to raise awareness on the aggravated isolation of the Kurdish leader, with the motto “Freedom for Öcalan, status for Kurdistan”.

Ciwanên Azad members stressed that their protests will continue until the isolation imposed on Öcalan ends, and called on all the Kurdish youth living in Europe to keep the struggle going until Öcalan’s physical freedom is achieved.
