Demonstration in Paris to protest death sentence of two Kurdish women in Iran

A rally will take place in Paris today to protest the death sentence of Kurdish activists Pakhshan Azizi and Sharifa Mohammadi in Iran.

The Kurdistan Women's Community (KJK) condemned the death sentences handed down by an Iranian court to Pakhshan Azizi and Sharifa Mohammadi, who were subjected to torture and inhuman treatment.

In a statement, the KJK called for a "common struggle against the Iranian regime hostile to women," and appealed to everyone to attend the demonstration that will be held in Paris today, to protest the death sentences against the two women.

The march will be at Place de la Bastille, at 18:00.

The statement said: "Iranian and Kurdish women of Rojhilat have highlighted their struggle for existence, identity and freedom with the slogan 'Jin, Jiyan, Azadî (Woman, Life, Freedom)' in 2022.

As we enter the 21st century, we have witnessed and are experiencing a process where our discourse about the 'Century of Women – Women’s Revolution', which we often express through the Kurdish women’s movement, has gone from being a demand to a material reality.

We, Kurdish women, have shown that we have a vision of a real women’s revolution by transforming this reality from a dream and a demand into a tangible fact.

At this point, the Rojava women’s revolution has become a concrete example of our demands, and this truth has inspired women around the world. Today, women around the world are resisting (…) femicide, exploitation, inequality, slavery and the reality of a patriarchal state. In this sense, women have raised their voices and shouted the truth of 'Woman, life, freedom'."
