Nine female prisoners were given disciplinary punishments for 'hugging and singing' during the open visits held on 21 April at Şakran Women’s Closed Prison in Izmir.
The prison administration of Şakran Women’s Closed Prison imposed a one-month ban on activities on three prisoners for "hugging people who were not their visitors" and a one-month communication ban on six prisoners for "singing".
Despite the appeals made by lawyers against both punishments, the Execution Court to which the prison is affiliated has yet to respond.
