Four activists from Rojhilat (Eastern Kurdistan, Iran) who participated in the uprising that followed the killing of Jina Amini in Rojhilat and Iran, and who tried to go to Europe via Turkey after a lawsuit was filed against them, are in danger of being deported to Iran. Activists Hüseyin Minbarî, Şewgar Muhammadî and journalists Rashad Muhammadî and Fahîme Hüseynî are currently held in Edirne Repatriation Center (GGM).

‘They fled repression’

The married couple, Rashad Muhammadi and Fahimah Husseini, were subjected to pressure and violence due to the programs and news they made during the protests. The couple’s family said that they fled repression and added that they risked execution if they were returned to Iran.

The family said: "They are in serious danger because they reflect the realities of Iranian society. Being deported to Iran  would have irreparable consequences. International human rights institutions and organizations that defend freedom of expression must take urgent action to prevent the return of these two journalists to the Islamic Republic of Iran and to guarantee their protection."

The activists Hussein Minbari and Shawgar Muhammadi were subjected to intense pressure after their Jin, Jiyan and Azadî protests. Their families said that they wanted to go to Europe, but were arrested in Turkey. The families said that they were waiting for public support to try and avoid the deportation of the four activists to Iran.
