Hamid Hossein Nejad Heyderanlu executed in Iran

Hamid Hossein Nejad Heydaranlu was executed in Iran.

The Fars News Agency, affiliated with the Revolutionary Guard Corps, announced that Hamid Hossein Nejad Heydaranlu was executed. The Urmia Revolutionary Court contacted the family and informed them that the death sentence had been carried out. No statement has yet been made regarding the delivery of the body to the family, and it is not known where the execution took place.

The execution of 39-year-old Heyderanlu had been scheduled for 18 April, but was temporarily postponed following a protest launched by his family in front of the prison.

Sit-in protest takes place outside the prison

The family and close relatives of Hamid Hossein Nejad Heyderanlu launched a sit-in protest outside the Revolutionary Court of Urmia, demanding the cancellation of the execution order.

The family also appealed to the United Nations Special Representative on Human Rights in Iran, May Sato, and to Amnesty International, calling for urgent intervention.

Heyderanlu was arrested in July 2024 on charges of “membership in the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK)” and “treason against the state.” On April 15, he was placed in a death row cell and received his final visit from his family on April 17. His family continues their protest in front of the prison, stating that the sentence is unlawful.
