Iran executes Kurdish politician Ahmadi

Kurdish politician and activist Serkut Ahmadi, who was imprisoned in Iran's Kirmaşan Closed Prison for two years, was secretly executed by the Iranian state on Wednesday morning.

Ahmadi was 29. He was a political activist and former member of the Kurdistan Revolutionary Workers Party. He was detained by Iranian state forces while trying to cross into Europe from the city of Urmia in January 2021. He was questioned under the supervision of the Iranian intelligence ministry. Later, he was sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary on the charge of killing a member of the security forces.
