Iran publicly executed two Afghan nationals on Saturday over an attack on a shrine in October, Iranian state media reported.
Two Afghan nationals, Mohammad Ramez Rashidi and Sayed Naeem Hashimi Qitali, were hanged this morning in front of hundreds of spectators before dawn in the southern city of Shiraz, the official Iranian news agency IRNA reported.
The two men were accused of attacking the Shah Chergah shrine in Shiraz on 26 October 2022. There was no evidence of the responsibility of the two men, who were nonetheless jailed and sentenced to death. Indeed, the Islamic State later claimed responsibility for the attack and the Iranian regime later announced that the shooter was killed, and six more people had been arrested.
Iran Human Rights said that Rashidi and Qitali were sentenced to death without any evidence.
