ISIG: At least 695 children killed at work since 2013

According to ISIG's report on working children, at least 695 children have been killed at work since 2013. Most of the deaths took place in Urfa.

The Occupational Health and Safety (ISIG) Assembly published the report it prepared regarding working children.

The report, which covers the period from 2013 until today, is dedicated to all working children, and includes figures of children who lost their lives in workplaces they were sent to within the scope of Vocational Education Centers (MESEM). The report said that at least 695 children have lost their lives in occupational homicides since 2013.

The report stated that 596 of the 695 children who lost their lives were boys and 99 were girls, and that the highest rate of child occupational murders on a city basis was in Urfa (Riha), with 52 deaths. In the report sharing the death rates, traffic-service accidents covered 28 percent of the deaths, drowning-poisoning 17 percent, and crush-dent accidents 14 percent.

In addition, 383 children lost their lives in agriculture/forestry, 75 children in construction/road, 52 children in metal workers, 49 children in accommodation, 24 children in the food industry, and 80 children who lost their lives in occupational homicides were refugees/immigrants.
