The Justice Commission for Gülistan Doku which comprises of members of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP), Lawyers' Association for Freedom (ÖHD) made a press statement in Amed (tr. Diyarbakır) regarding the march organized by the Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF) from Istanbul to Ankara on the anniversary of the Suruç bombing to demand justice for the 33 victims.
During the event attended by HDP Amed Deputy Semra Güzel, the group displayed banners that read ‘Justice for Gülistan Doku, justice for all’, ‘Justice for Suruç, justice for all’, ‘Justice for Deniz Poyraz, justice for all’ and ‘Justice for Roboski, justice for all’.
'JUSTICE CAN BE SERVED ON THE STREETS'
Ayşe Esmer, a member of the Justice Commission for Gülistan Doku, stated that they are fighting for justice for the young activists who were murdered in Suruç on July 20, 2015, as well as for many other women such as İpek Er, Yeldana Kaharman, and Gülistan Doku, who were abused by soldiers and police officers in Kurdistan.
“Light won’t be shed on massacres and disappearances, mainly on Suruç, Ankara and Gülistan Doku, in the courtrooms. Justice will only be achieved by expanding the struggle for justice in the streets,” Esmer said.
Speaking after, HDP Deputy Semra Güzel said, “We will not abandon the dreams of 33 dream travellers. Those who murdered them were those who embraced ISIS, those who wanted Kobane to fall, and those who launched the Kobane conspiracy case.”
