The trial of Halise Aksoy, the mother who received her son's remains in a box following his death in clashes in Dersim in 2017, was held on Friday at the 10th Heavy Penal Court in Diyarbakır.
Aksoy is being charged with "membership in a terrorist organization". The woman was not released in this first hearing of the case.
Aksoy and her lawyers Necat Çiçek and Zeynep Karayılan attended the hearing. Aksoy's relatives and Green Left Party executives also attended the hearing.
Halise Aksoy's son, Agit İpek, lost his life in clashes in Dersim in 2017. On 10 April 2020, İpek's bones were delivered to Aksoy in a box.
