The co-chairs of the DEM Party, Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan, issued a message for Eid al-Adha, saying: “We celebrate Eid al-Adha with our 86 million citizens and wish that the holiday brings peace, freedom, and equality to us all.”

The message reads as follows: “Holidays are the most precious times for sharing our pain, increasing our hope, and strengthening solidarity and brotherhood.

As a country, we are going through a difficult period. That is precisely why we need the unifying and healing power of holidays more than ever. These special days remind us that coexistence, social peace, and a democratic future are possible.

We dream of a country where different identities, beliefs, and languages can live together freely and equally as citizens.

With Kurds, Turks, Alevis, Sunnis, Armenians, Assyrians... we continue our struggle for a pluralistic and democratic republic where all the peoples of this land have equal rights, where no one is oppressed because of their faith, language, or identity.

With this belief and hope, we celebrate Eid al-Adha with our 86 million citizens and wish that the holiday brings peace, freedom, and equality to all of us.”
