28 years old prisoner Mustafa Koçak was sentenced to life imprisonment based on contradictory statements of an informant. Koçak went on a hunger strike demanding a fair trial and turned his protest on the 90th day into death fast which is on day 242.

Parents of Koçak have been staging a protest at Istanbul Kadıköy’s Khalkedon Square every Saturday to denounce their son’s worsening state of health and the unlawful treatment he has been subject to.

Father Hasan and mother Zeynep Koçak have once again called for sensitivity for their son who is nearing death, displaying a banner that read “Mustafa Koçak on death fast for justice for 242 days”.

Calling out to the 27th Heavy Penal Court that sentenced Koçak to life imprisonment, father Hasan Koçak said; “Don’t you have children? There is no evidence, no fingerprint but prison sentence based on personal conviction. You would turn the world upside down if your child was hungry for one day. A 28-year-old is dying. He is 30 kilos now. Is this your justice?”

Mother Zeynep Koçak said; “I am a mother. I can move mountains for my son. I want justice.”

The parents were arrested by the police like every week but vowed to keep up their struggle for justice.
