Bayram Sevgin, a political prisoner in Kayseri Bünyan Closed Prison, has been on death fast for four days to protest against torture.
Bayram Sevgin has been held in Kayseri Bünyan Closed Prison for five years.
His mother, Ayşe Sevgin, said on Tuesday that her 28-year-old son, Bayram told her on the phone that he was on death fast to protest against torture.
Worried about her son's health, Sevgin said: "I hadn't heard from my son in two weeks. We normally had phone calls on Thursdays every week. I wanted to meet with the prison administration because I was wondering, but they didn't give any information."
When she was finally able to talk to her son by phone, Bayram Sevgin told his mother: "They took me to another ward by force. The guards tortured me. That's why I have been on death fast for 4 days."
Bayram Sevgin's mother stated that she also phoned the prison administration to discuss the issue, but that the authorities put the phone down on her during the conversation.
Ayşe Sevgin said she wanted her son's demands to be fulfilled.
