The Iran Human Rights Organization said that prisoner Rizgar Begzade Baba Mîrî went on hunger strike to protest the unlawful proceedings in his trial and the pressure exerted by Iranian authorities.
It has been reported that Begzade has endured 22 months of torture and is facing execution on charges of "hostility" and "rebellion."
The Human Rights Organization emphasized that Begzade had helped provide medical treatment and medicine to the wounded during the Jin, Jiyan, Azadî Revolution.
Begzade was detained by Iranian regime forces on 17 April 2023. He was held in solitary confinement for 133 days and subjected to severe physical and psychological torture. Reports indicate that during the torture, his eardrum was ruptured, and he was denied his right to a defense before being sentenced to 15 years in prison.
