After the autopsy procedures at Yüzüncü Yıl University Dursun Odabaş Medical Center, the family of Sinan Gencer, who allegedly committed suicide this morning in Van High Security Closed Prison, took his remains to bury them in Süphan District.

The funeral vehicle was stopped by armored police vehicles, after which Gencler’s remains were taken to Eyüp Sultan mosque in Süphan District and then to the cemetery. The funeral was attended by TUHAY-DER (Prisoners’ Families Association) executives and HDP Van Provincial co-chair Öznur Bartın, Van MP Murat Sarısaç and the party’s deputy co-chair Ümit Dede.

Gencler was buried under heavy police presence.
