Prisoners on hunger strike not given vitamin B1

Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) prisoner Mehmet Erbey who has been on hunger strike for 29 days has not been supplied with vitamin B1 and medicine by the prison administration.

The news came out when his mother Meryem Erbey applied to the Human Rights Association (IHD) Mersin branch following a visit to his son in Adana Kürkçüler F Type Prison. Mother Erbey said that “My son told me that the prison administration not only denied the fasting prisoners medicine and vitamin but also seized the letters they send and receive.”

Erbey’s mother called attention to her son’s rapidly deteriorating state of health and said that the government and prison authorities would be responsible for the consequences.

PKK prisoner Mehmet Erbey moved to the southern province of Mersin with his family after their village in Siirt was burnt down many years ago. His two siblings rank in PKK fronts, two have lost their life in clashes and two others in prison.
