Severely ill prisoner Ali Kurban has been exiled to Silifke M Type Closed Prison and put in solitary confinement.

Kurban, who has been jailed for 25 years, went on death fast in 1999 which ended up in severe diseases of different kind. He was later referred to Metris R Type Prison where he received treatment, but has been exiled to Silifke M Type Closed Prison before the completion of his treatment.

Kurban suffers from myopic astigmatism in both eyes, renal insufficiency by 90 percent, hypertension, affective disorder, in addition to two missing fingers in the right hand. After receiving a medical report last year from Mersin University Research Hospital which confirmed that he can't live in prison alone, he was referred to Metris R Type Prison to get a second report.

During his imprisonment here, he received treatment at Istanbul University Medical Faculty Hospital which one year later gave him a report saying that "he can stay in prison alone".

Kurban was immediately exiled to Silifke M Type Closed Prison where he has been put in solitary confinement upon his rejection to stay in the “ward of independent”. He is now being denied his medication despite the ongoing threat constituted by his diseases.
