Three teenage girls between 13 and 16, who are detained for political reasons in Hatay Prison, told their lawyers and family members of the sexual harassment by law enforcement officers, on-watch soldiers, and male inmates. They were also forced to be searched naked.
The cell of the three teenage girls is located between the cells of non-political male minors who verbally harass them. According to girls’ lawyer, the prison authorities were informed but did nothing.
The girls are searched naked systematically. There are further problems with visits and telephone conversations with relatives and their meetings with lawyers are recorded on video.
