TUAY-DER reiterates call to release all prisoners

TUAY-DER demanded the release of all prisoners, beginning with Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Prisoners' Families Association TUAY-DER issued a written statement regarding the law of execution proposed by the AKP and MHP, which excluded political prisoners from early release. Changes have been proposed because of the risks posed on prisoners by the coronavirus outbreak.

The statement reminded that there are more and more news of prisoners complaining of Covid-19 symptoms in different prisons and added that families are extremely worried.

TUAY-DER said: "From here we are addressing the deputies from the ruling party. The seats you sit on are temporary. Listen to the voices of the people and rights organizations and don't discriminate between prisoners."

TUAY-DER added: "Are there deputies, mayors, political party leaders and employees, journalists, students and teachers, critics of the government part of the category you call 'terrorism'? Stop sowing seeds of discord among the peoples before the coronavirus spreads in prisons."

TUAY-DER reiterated its call for the immediate release of all prisoners.
