World record from Turkey: 140 convictions in ECHR

Turkey has been convicted in 140 separate cases in the ECHR in the span of one year.

European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) President Guido Raimondi held a press statement today to assess 2018.

Raimondi said Turkey has been convicted in 140 separate cases in the span of one year and in 3.128 cases since the country ratified the convention (the European Convention on Human Rights).

Turkey is followed by Russia with 2.365 convictions, Italy with 1.830 convictions, Romania with 1.273 convictions, France with 736 convictions and Germany with 195 convictions.

7.100 NEW CASES FROM TURKEY

Raimondi said there are 7.100 new cases waiting for trial originating from Turkey in the ECHR and added that Russia has 11.750 new cases, Italy has 4.050, Ukraine has 7.250 and Romania has 8.500.
