12 village guards in Dargeçit’s Xirabeka village appealed to the District Gendarmerie Outpost to lay down their arms and resign on account of the state’s genocidal attacks in Kurdistan.

Following the recent resignation of 20 village guards in Sümer (Deywan) village in Mardin’s Dargeçit (Kerboran) district in protest of the state’s genocidal attacks in Kurdistan, 12 more village guards in Xirabeka village turned in their resignations. Local sources say that the Dargeçit District Gendarmerie Commander visited the village and asked the guards in Xirabeka to take part in the genocidal attacks in Nusaybin. The 12 village guards turned in their weapons and submitted their resignations to the district outpost.

Last week, a total of 66 village guards from Dargeçit, Savur and Ömerli districts of Mardin had refused to take part in operations in Nusaybin and resigned.
