A Turkish helicopter has crashed in Dersim province earlier today. The helicopter of the Dersim Police Directorate has disappeared off the radar at around 13:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Tunceli Governorate announced that 7 police officers, 1 non-commissioned officer, 1 judge and 3 personnel in the helicopter have died.

The crashed helicopter was a S-70 Black Hawk medium transport/utility one manufactured by the United States Sikorsky Aircraft. With two crew and one technician, the helicopter can move a squad of 18 fully-equipped combat troops. The helicopter with 7,375 kg takeoff weight and 592 km range has the maximum speed of 296 km/h and rate of climb of 5,790 m.
