12 people sentenced to 99 years in prison in "KCK Silopi case"
12 people standing trial in the “KCK Silopi trial” have been sentenced to a total of 99 years in prison, including deposed co-mayor of Cizre district of Şırnak.
12 people standing trial in the “KCK Silopi trial” have been sentenced to a total of 99 years in prison, including deposed co-mayor of Cizre district of Şırnak.
Deposed co-mayor of Cizre, Berivan Kutlu is among the 30 people who stand trial in the so-called “KCK trial” in Silopi district of Şırnak which was opened against Kurdish politicians in 2011. The final hearing was held at the 2nd Heavy Penal Court of Elazığ yesterday.
While defendants did not attend the hearing, their lawyers were present.
The court sentenced the defendants to prison terms ranging from 7 years and 3 months to 8 years. 12 people were sentenced to a total of 99 years in prison, while the other 18 were acquitted.
The former co-mayor of Cizre, Berivan Kutlu, was sentenced to 7 years and 3 months in prison.
