According to a statement released by the HPG Press Centre on Wednesday, three Turkish military positions were destroyed and 14 soldiers were killed during the actions carried out by guerrillas against the Turkish occupation troops in the Avaşîn, Zap and Xakurke areas in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

The statement released the details of the actions carried out by HPG and YJA Star guerrillas as follows:

AVAŞİN

On May 3, at 11:40, the occupation troops in Girê Werxelê in the Werxelê Resistance Area were targeted by our forces, which left one of them dead. On the same day, at 12:15, a second action was carried out by our YJA Star forces against the invaders in the area.

ZAP

On May 3, at 18:00, the occupation troops stationed around the Girê Martyr Berxwedan battle positions in the Şehîd Şahin Resistance Area were targeted by our forces, which left one of them dead.

On May 3, at 15:50, one of the invaders stationed around the Girê Şehîd Harun battle positions in the Kurojahro Resistance Area was shot dead by YJA Star forces.

On May 3, at 09:00 and 15:00, the invaders around the Kurojahro Resistance Area were targeted by our forces with heavy weapons. The targets were hit accurately.

On May 3, at 13:00, the invaders around the Girê Şehîd Amargî battle positions in the Kurojahro Resistance Area were targeted by our forces in a targeted action, and 1 invader was killed.

On May 3, at 13:45 and 19:30, the invaders around the Kevirêkun battle positions in the Şikefta Birîndara Resistance Area were targeted by our forces and 2 of them were killed.

On May 3, at 15:45, the invaders positioned around Girê Rûbar in the Çiyareş Resistance Area came under fire by our forces. As a result, 4 invaders were killed, and the targeted position was destroyed. The invading Turkish army heavily bombed the area with howitzers after the action and removed its casualties from the area by helicopters later at night.

On May 3 at 23:00, Turkish attack helicopters that sought to bomb the Girê Rûbar area in Çiyareş Resistance Area were targeted by our forces. As a result of our intervention, the helicopters had to retreat from the area.

XAKURKE

On May 3, at 17:30, three positions belonging to the invaders in the Girê Şehîd Axîn were struck from three directions in a coordinated guerrilla action. The targeted positions were hit accurately by our YJA Star forces, killing 4 invaders and destroying 2 positions.”

ONGOING TURKISH ATTACKS

The HPG released the following information concerning the Turkish bombings in the Zap and Xakurke areas:

On May 3, between 15:30 and 16:30, Girê Cûdî in the Zap region was bombed 6 times by Turkish fighter jets.

On May 3, at 17:30, the Girê Şehîd Hakî area in the Xakurkê region was bombed twice by Turkish fighter jets. On the same day, at 16:00, Girê Hakkarî in the Metîna region was bombed twice by Turkish fighter jets.

On May 3, between 13:00 and 00:00, the areas of Çemço, Şikefta Birîndara, Karker, Girê Şehîd Cûdî, Girê Ortê, Şehîd Şahin, Şehîd Amargî and Kurojahro in the Zap region were heavily bombed with howitzers fired from the Turkish military outposts at the border. The same areas were bombed 9 times by Turkish attack helicopters and fighter jets. On the same day, the Werxelê area in the ​​Avaşîn region was bombed by howitzers.
