15 detained in Lice and Silvan

After AKP Lice district vice chairman was killed last night, 12 people have been detained.

Following the killing of Orhan Mercan, the vice chairman of the AKP branch in Amed's Lice district yesterday night, Turkish police conducted operations and took 12 people into custody.

The detainees who include DİHA (Dicle News agency) reporter Behçet Bayhan, drivers and shopkeepers were referred to the District Security Directorate.

In Silvan district of Amed, three persons were taken into custody at a checkpoint of soldiers, when they were driving from Bayrambaşı (Sêdeqnê) village to the district center. The three detained men Mehmet Çagırtekin, Mahmut Becerikli and Cengiz Turan were at first taken to the District Gendarmerie Station and then transferred to the District Security Directorate.
