15 members of the Kurdistan Regional Parliament appealed to hold a session on the invasion attacks against Bashur.
15 MPs from PUK, New Generation Movement, Komela Islami, Yekgirtu and Goran Movement submitted a petition to the Kurdistan Regional Parliamentary Presidency to hold a session on the invasion attacks by the Turkish state against Bashur (South Kurdistan).
Signatory New Generation Movement MP Mem Burhan Qanih said, “If we can hold the parliamentary session, we will call on the Iraqi central government and Kurdistan regional government to uphold their independence. This is a national, legal and humane responsibility. The regional parliament must fulfill its duty. We hope these protests produce results.”
The Parliamentary Presidential Council will have to determine a date for the session in 14 days.
SIGNATURES SUBMITTED YESTERDAY
Intellectuals, activists, politicians, journalists and writers including Ebdullah Mela Nuri, Serko Heme Emin, Hewjin Mela Emin, Umit Qeredaxi and Sores Xidir campaigned against the invasion attacks in Bashur and submitted the signatures they gathered to the Iraqi Parliament’s Sulaymaniyah offices yesterday.
52 MPs from the Iraqi Parliament supported the petition.
