18 soldiers killed in guerrilla actions against the Turkish army

Guerrillas of the HPG (People’s Defense Forces) and YJA-Star (Free Women’s Troops) continue hitting the invading Turkish troops in Kurdistan territory.

HPG Press Office released a statement providing information about the most recent actions carried out by guerrilla forces against the Turkish army. The statement by HPG Press Office is as follows;

“Within the scope of the Martyr Pîroz and Martyr Agirî Revolutionary Campaign, on June 18, our guerrilla forces carried out actions against the occupying Turkish army in Colemêrg (Hakkari). The details of the actions carried out by our forces are as following;

At 13.40, our YJA Star forces carried out an action against the invading soldiers positioned on the Koordine hill in Çelê (Çukurca) district. The number of dead and wounded soldiers could not be determined in this action where enemy positions and shelters were put under intense fire. Following this action, at 14.00, our YJA Star forces carried out a sabotage action against the enemy soldiers on the Koordine hill. In this action, five enemy soldiers were killed.

A convoy of the occupying Turkish army heading from Hakkari to Çelê district, consisting of a large number of armoured vehicles, was targeted by our guerrilla forces near Çemê Bedel village at 20.45 hours. In this action, a Kirpi-type armoured vehicle in the convoy was totally destroyed and ten enemy soldiers were killed. After the action, the occupying Turkish army indiscriminately opened fire on the area with heavy weapons and carried away dead and wounded soldiers from the area with ambulances.

Within the scope of the Martyr Ozan and Martyr Roza Revolutionary Campaign, on June 17, at 17.30, our guerrilla forces carried out an action targeting a Sikorsky helicopter whilst carrying out the deployment to the Amutka outpost from the Martyr Cesur area in Dersim's Hozat district. The Sikorsky helicopter, which was put under heavy fire from two arms, was damaged and was forced to withdraw from the area.

On June 17, our forces carried out an action against a group of occupying Turkish army soldiers trying to deploy on the Kortika hill near the village of Ezê in Bitlis’ Tatvan district. Three enemy soldiers were killed and two soldiers were wounded in this action.”
