HAKKARİ
Procedures have been completed for 52 people who had been detained in mass following a raid in a private construction site and houses in the surrounding areas in Yüksekova district of Hakkari on August 5.
A footage emerged yesterday of the torture perpetrated by special operation police teams against dozens of people taken into custody in the private construction site. The footage published by DIHA showed a member of special operation teams threatening the detainees, who were lined up face down with their hands tied up behind, saying; “What did this state do to you? I know all of you. Whoever is involved in treason, will pay back. You will face the power of the Turk!”
Out of five people who were referred to a court with a request for their arrest, four were remanded in custody and sent to Hakkari Closed Prison on the grounds of “strong criminal suspicion”.
According to the information provided by lawyers, a “confidentiality order” has been placed on the file of the case.
URFA
In Siverek district of Urfa, 13 people who had been detained in house raid operations on Wednesday, were referred to courthouse following procedures at police quarters. Among these, five were remanded in custody and sent to Siverek F Type Closed Prison on charges of “membership to an organisation”, while the other eight were released on conditions of supervision.
AMED
The day before, a total of 16 people had been detained in Amed as part of an investigation launched by Diyarbakır Public Prosecutor's Office into alleged "corruption and irregularity" and "providing money for an organisation" in relation to the Kırklardağı Housing on the shore of River Tigris.
16 of the detainees who were referred to courthouse yesterday, 10 were remanded in custody while the other six were released on conditions of judicial supervision. Former mayor of Sur district, Abdullah Demirbaş, is among those remanded in custody.
VAN
On the other hand, three people have been taken into custody in raids in Kurucan neighborhod of Van's Saray district.
The operations by police was also joined by special teams that broke the doors and windows of the houses targeted in the operation, and insulted the households.
ŞIRNAK
In the meantime, an arrest warrant has been issued for four people who were hospitalized after suffering injuries during the police terror in Silopi district of Şırnak the day before. The arrest warrant against four people has been issued for "membership to an armed organization".
