20 hunger strikers detained in Batman

TJA activists in Batman on a solidarity hunger strike have been taken into custody.

Free Women’s Movement (TJA) activists are fasting to support HDP deputy Leyla Güven, who is on a hunger strike for 34 days demanding an end to the isolation regime imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

On Monday evening, after news of detentions among hunger strikers in Amed, heavy police presence was denounced at the HDP Batman Province building. Armored vehicles arrived at the place and several people were taken into custody.

Among the people taken into custody were: HDP Provincial Co-Chair Berivan Helen Isik, Ezel Aydın, Zozan Şimşek, Sedat Yıldız, Hadi Bahadır, Eyüp Yağız, Yaşar Kırca, Ahmet Yılmaz, Sıdık Topbaş, Zedan Ekmen, Osman Bozkurtaca, Songül Korkmaz, Vildan Ergül Tile, Gülcemal Erdinç, Sabiha Ekinci, Maşallah Kaya, Menfiat Çelik, Halise Bilir, Aliya Işık, Tugba Dogan, Elif Tiluk Timur, Sukran Celebi, Sakina Baytar, Edibe Bilir, Sabahat Acar, Derya Arslan.

Riot police entered the HDP building, while the people taken into custody were taken to the Batman Provincial Security building after the hospital check.
