25 soldiers killed in guerrilla actions in South Kurdistan

According to HPG reports, another 25 soldiers have been killed in the resistance against the Turkish invasion in southern Kurdistan. At Girê Amêdî, soldiers tried to blow up a guerrilla tunnel and were themselves killed in the premature detonation.

The guerrillas continue to inflict losses on the Turkish army in Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq). According to the People's Defense Forces (HPG), 25 soldiers have been killed, five others suffered injuries. The guerrillas are using a combination of different combat tactics to defend themselves against the Turkish invasion, employing tactics of sabotage, infiltration and snipers.

According to the daily overview of the war published by the HPG press centre on Sunday, the Turkish air force carried out a total of 27 attacks on the guerrilla areas on Saturday, eight times by fighter jets and 19 times by attack helicopters. In the category of "chemical weapons and explosives", the HPG reported 13 actions on guerrilla positions in the areas of Şikefta Birîndara, Werxelê, Şehîd Umît and Girê Amêdî. According to the report, the chemical warfare agents used caused brown and black smoke.

Zap, Xakurke and Avaşîn

In the resistance area of Şikefta Birîndara in the Zap region, a Turkish army military column consisting of tanks, shovels and armoured vehicles was struck guerrillas on Saturday, killing two occupants. In front of the guerrilla tunnel Şehîd Umît, also located in the Zap, an action of sabotage was carried out against an advancing Turkish operation on Sunday morning.

In Xakurke, an action of sabotage was carried out against the Turkish occupation forces at Girê Şehîd Kamuran on 14 July. One soldier was killed and three others were injured as a result.

In the Werxelê area in Avaşîn, a Turkish army shovel excavator was damaged in an action of sabotage on Saturday afternoon.

Girê Amêdî

Five actions of sabotage were carried out against the advancing army in the Girê Amêdî resistance area on Friday and Saturday, as a result of which at least seven soldiers were killed and two others injured. Snipers of the YJA Star shot six soldiers dead on Friday.

On Saturday morning, the invading forces attempted to carry out detonations at a tunnel site. The shelling caused the explosives they were carrying to detonate early, killing three of them.

Last night at 2.30 a.m., guerrillas infiltrated a Turkish unit from two sides and struck with firearms and hand grenades. Six soldiers were killed and the bodies were taken away by military helicopters.
